Self-Care and Self-Love 💖🔥

Pause for a moment.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of “self-love”?

Do you immediately see yourself getting a luxurious massage?

Or having a day off to do just whatever your heart desires?

I think the concept of self-love is often thought of as the same thing as self-care.

Instead, I’d like you to consider self-care as being akin to taking care of a luxury car (which is your body and mind) so it runs smoothly and stays in tip-top shape.

Self-care is often viewed as a necessary component of maintaining overall well-being and is typically seen as a proactive and preventative measure. This could mean regular tune-ups like eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and engaging in fun activities. It is the actions you take to maintain your physical, mental and emotional health.

Self-love on the other hand, is the loving and caring relationship you have with yourself, like the way you would treat your best friend.

It’s about embracing your quirks and uniqueness, valuing yourself, and taking care of your needs and wants.

It refers to fostering a positive and accepting attitude towards yourself and a deep appreciation and understanding of your worth and value in the world.

Self-love is a necessary precursor to a healthy self-care practice, as it provides a foundation of self-respect and self-worth that can sustain individuals through challenges and difficulties.

If you don’t have a healthy self-love, it’s unlikely that you’ll make your self-care a priority, either because you place others needs before your own, you don’t think you’re “worth it”, or telling yourself that you “don’t have time”.

In a way, self-care is the oil change and self-love is the motivation behind taking good care of your luxury car. Both are crucial to keep the car (and you!) cruising down the road of life, but self-love provides the support and encouragement to make self-care a priority.

In summary, self-love, is like your own personal cheerleader. It’s about embracing who you are, and appreciating all the amazing qualities that make you unique. When you have self-love, you’re more likely to take care of yourself, because you recognize your own worth and value. It’s the confidence boost that fuels your self-care routine and helps you weather any challenges that come your way.

So, you can think of self-care as the “what” and self-love as the “why.” They both play an important role in helping you live a happy and healthy life!

With good energy,
